There’s a distinct possibility that we will experience drug shortages (serious ones) across the board in the not too distant future. I find the thought of this type of thing absolutely terrifying.

This is a horrible story, and I’m wondering if it is just the tip of the iceberg. Quality control has become an issue even with venerable Johnson & Johnson, makers of Tylenol and other over the counter drugs that had to be recalled recently. I’ve come to the conclusion that expecting companies to regulate themselves is like handing candy to a toddler and telling them to just hold onto it. The honor system is only going to go so far when there is a possibility of huge profits – and concern for patients is only going to go a short way when there is the possibility of big losses.

Rebecca, that show sounds colossally interesting! I’m definitely going to check it out — if I have the Veria channel (we don’t do “for pay” channels in my house). How awful! I found an interesting show about cancer survivors who use alternative/natural medication. Its on the Veria channel called The Incurables.
