Mash Out Melanoma – Be a Sunblock Super Star

A friend of mine, who is obsessed with pitbull puppies and dogs, had this video on her blog, A Scribbler’s Tale. As a melanoma survivor, I know she holds skin cancer prevention close in her heart, as do I. Please watch this short, touching, and poignant video — allow it to pull at your heart and provoke your thoughts on this topic. Also, check out her sometimes serious, sometimes humorous, always worth the read blog. The pitbulls photos (and there are plenty) will make you rethink your generalizations about this breed of dog.

Stop tanning both indoor and out people! Get a professional spray tan for that pool party or summer vacation. For about $35, you can have a stunning golden tan, flawlessly airbrushed on your body by a professional. The tan lasts about 10 days and no one will know the difference! Please wear sunscreen at all times. Spray tans do not protect against sun damage.

Thanks Sam! You ROCK!! Spreading the world will help! Maybe not all, but if we can just reach ONE PERSON, we are doing a great job!

Hi Samantha! Thanks for a great post, definitely will be sharing the video. I have fair skin and my father had a melanoma removed at age 75! I take care of myself very well but I ‘die’ when I see those girls at the beach looking like “lobsters” laying there like its fun and thinking they look beautiful …the matter of the fact is, they look stupid to me (pardon my language) but this message should be spread on national TV on prime time! If I dont come from Voiceboks, I would have probably never seen it. Thanks, a lot of thanks.

Thanks so much for your kind words! I’m so happy you stopped by and I agree: if you deliberately lay out in the sun or lay in a tanning bed, you’re making a stupid choice.

Wow, if only a few more people would take of their skin. I live in Las Vegas, NV and I definitely know the sun can be dangerous in the summer when temps can reach up to 110 def F. Thanks for the post. Visiting from VoiceBok. Have a great weekend.

Yes, LV is quite hot as is Arizona and the nearby arid land. People should think more about the future, but this is what our culture has become — a bunch of people unable to delay gratification or sacrifice any luxury. Thanks for stopping by!

Hi there Samantha. Stopping by from vB. This post is such a great reminder as summer approaches. I wish my husband was as on board with sun block as I am. Still, I don’t leave the house without it. What’s your take on the spray tan?

    • #8 by Samantha Gluck on May 23, 2011 - 4:20 AM

I’ve used spray tan and I think it’s a great alternative. It looks beautiful, lasts about 10 days, and is relatively inexpensive. Like anything else, moderation is key. Thank you so much for stopping by!

Thanks sooooo much for sharing! I´ll show it to my husband, who´s fairskinned and both his mom and brother had melanoma. He thinks he´s some sort of super person & that he doesn´t need sunscreen and no matter how much I tell him he just won´t listen.

We all think we’re invincible until it happens to us. When my doctor told me I had melanoma, it changed my life and I got my priorities in order straight away! Thanks for dropping by!
